Hi folks,
Nice forum! I pick up my v.first mh ('96 Duetto) a week tomorrow. This is a 2-berth and I'm looking to encourage a lifestyle change that will take us out & about in this country and abroad once I/we have the confidence.
I have to say, my wife is not really a camping type person, never has been and so this adventure could be short lived and expensive especially if it gets off to a bad start! We bought the duetto to be totally independent but would like to go to sites where we felt toilets/showers etc were top notch and a pleasure to use.
I have 3 months nationwide warranty from a Ford dealership (ie not a mh specialist) with this van and I'd like to go on some shakedown trips maybe starting with some overnighters. We live in Fareham (near Portsmouth) so the New Forest, Lulworth Cove are fairly close if there
are any recommended sites there.
So I have a million questions but here are a few starters...
1. Is there a list of graded sites on the web that can be referenced for price, facilities, cleanliness etc etc? Alternatively, can anyone recommend some overnighters in my 'local' area?
2. The Ford dealership know nothing about mh's and can't show me how anything works let alone confirm that it works. There are manuals but I'm wondering how best to approach this. If I find something on the habitation side is faulty Ford won't be able to fix it but should be morally obliged to get/have it fixed. I'm assuming I will need a 'habitation' check? Can I do this myself or should I get an independent one?
3. One problem I definately know of is the omnistor wind out awning only winds out the end where the winder fits in. I couldn't see anything holding the other side in so I'm assuming its broke? Is this a common problem and any suggestions on what is wrong/what I am doing wrong? Being 'an accessory', the warranty doesn't cover this.
I think thats it for now unless anyone has any experience of this age of duetto and its associated problems/pleasures they want to share. It is a 2.5 diesel.
Sorry this post was a bit lenghty. I'll try to keep them shorter in future.
Thanks, David
