Hi,

Is it possible to purchase a suitable sized BATTERY AND BOX that will fit under the seat in a Ducato swivel seat, eg, to house a second leisure battery ? any info and details would be appreciated

Hi, what size is your existing battery 80/90/110? a new matched pair would be a preffered option, also they need to be fitted in close proximity to each other.
Will the space under the seat allow easy access to a battery in a box, or would hold down trays be better?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, My existing battery is under the floor in a purpose made box but there is no room for a second battery. I have been toying with fitting at least 1 extra battery or possibly 2 for some time and are just getting around to doing it ?.

I intend to try and fit the extra batteries under the front seats in a similar manner to what i beleive is standard on a lot of vehicles, I do reallyies that to gain access i will need to un-bolt the seat and remove it, but from what i can also gather this is standard practice when batteries are fitted in this manner ???

However my real worry was on exactly how they are fitted eg. are they in a box or do they stand on a tray ?? or is there some other way ?? also regarding the use of tray/boxes do you know if either of them will fit in the space under a normal Ducato swivel seat as from what i can see the largest battery that would fit would be a 85 amp MAX ??

Brian,

I have two 100ah leisure batteries one under each cab seat. They sit in a tray with a hold down strap.

I check them about once every couple of months, it's a fiddly job but one of the very few I can do on the van myself.

The seats have to be removed to do the job properly. I'm very lucky, I'm able to tilt the cab seat right back on to the seats behind, if you have a dinette you might have to lift the seats out of the cab.
