Door Fly screens

This weekend i found a tear about 2 inches long in my door fly screen.
:(
I think that it has been there since I collected my new van a couple of weeks ago, but you cannot see it till you actually use the screen. It does not look as though I shall get it replaced under warranty as I cannot prove that I have not done it since collection.

Does anybody have any suggestions how I can repair the tear?

Grateful for any help.

Have you spoken to the dealer about it? Even though you cannot prove that it was there when you bought it, a good dealer may wish to do something as a gesture of goodwill at least. After all, buying a motorhome is not like buying a packet of sugar, you have paid out a great deal of money for a luxury product and presumably would like you to come back for another one day, buy more accessories, and give him a public pat on the back on this forum! 8)

Worth a try anyway

Hi Terry,

Can't help with a repair but I'm curious, you say the dealer will not replace under the guarantee, have you approached them?

I know you say that you did not notice it at collection but if you go back to the dealer and explain it that way, you never know.

I have had a similar problem and did not notice it for quite a while, I returned to my dealer and explained in a very calm and polite manner the problem, and they agreed to sort it out under warranty, so it can be done.

You'll never know unless you try, good luck.

MHS...Rob :D .....(Hi Gill, I'll have to type quicker it seem's)

I also had a tear in my door fly screen, The material can be purchase from Touchwoods in Oxford and they will do mail order, mine was easily replaced, around the screen area was a narrow groove the material was held in place by a stretching it over the frame and inserting small diameter plastic tubing into the groove. Then remove excess material. Job done

I had previously remove the tubing when removing the old material, if yours is the same it’s only a few minutes job

I am sure the dealer would be prepared to correct the fault for you. It would not cost him anything, he would get the replacement from the manfacturer.

I am sorry you have this fault but I have yet to see the perfect Motor Home, but I do feel a lot of dealers make a real effort these days.
