Has anyone fitted Gaslow refillable cylinders to a Swift/Ace 680FB or Bessecarr E560, if so what size cylinder fitted in the locker please. I'm getting a Bessecarr E560 and I already have a Gaslow 11kg Cylinder from my old van. Will it fit in the gas locker? Will it fit in the gas locker with a Calor 6kg Propane as well?? That's what I have today.
Or will i have to get a smaller Gaslow cylinder.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry, can't help you on the door dimensions. I would imagine that the door would take a 13kg calor so should take the Gaslow.

Try sending a PM to swift, they are usually on here somewhere.

edit: sorry, just notice that you are not a full member and can't PM. Try e-mailing them anyway.

Hi All, I worked it out myself, thought the info may be useful for anyone else...
I have installed an 11kg Gaslow cylinder in the locker, it fits but it is tight, you need to modify the securing straps. Alongside it there is just room for a 4.5kg Calor propane, the old red dumpy cylinder, but again it is a squeeze. So I have the 11kg as my main supply. the 4.5kg is only a backup if I run out of gas with no opportunity to refill the main cylinder. I have also installed the refill point inside the locker so there are no bodywork cuts or holes. You have room then on top of the small cylinder for odds and ends if you like, maybe even some ramps.

Russell,
So long as the rain isn't horizontal tomorrow i'll get the camera out!
I found that I can slot a 4.5kg cylinder in next to the 11kg as there is enough room at the top to fit the smaller cylinder thru the door with the bigger one strapped in place. I haven't bothered connecting both to the regulator, I would just swap the pipe if I needed to... I have another gaslow pipe with the right fitting for the Calor cylinder. I don't expect to ever run out with the 11kg gaslow as it's so easy to top up whenever you want.

Sorry it's been a while.
Here's a pic of my Gaslow installation with the filler inside the locker.
I have another pipe for the Calor cylinder in case I need to usse it on the Motorhome. Otherwise the fitting on the small Calor cylinder is the same as the one on my BBQ point on the other side of the van. So I can use my BBQ anywhere without messing with regulators or spanners!
With the smaller 3.5kg Calor in this locker, there's room for some bits n pieces or chocks.

Hi short-stick,

I had a system fitted to my 685 on Friday. Only one 11Kg would fit as you say. I tried the 6Kg propane but it wouldn't go. Is the diameter of the 3.5 (or 3.9 as my Calor supplier says) less than the 6 Kg. I'm surprised that it fits but it would suit me fine to have a small emergency supply as a standby.

Hi Colonel.
The 3.9kg Calor Propane is virtually the same diameter as the 6kg one. In fact I think the 6 might be smaller diameter!
But what I found is that due to the size and positioning of the door relative to the locker space inside, with the 11kg Gaslow on the left, I could persuade the smalle calor propane cylinder in beside it by threading it in horizontally at the top of the door opening where there is most room next to the Gaslow then turning it vertical and it slots tightly down in the bottom of the locker. You can't slot a 6kg cylinder in using this method, it is too long (high) to turn in the wider gap at the top.
If only Swift made the door bigger, or moved it over to one side of the locker and maybe made the locker 1cm wider, all would be perfect. Still I carry less weight, have a sensible spare and flexibility, and save some room for other junk!

Gaslow

Hi

Just a thought - would 2 x 6kg Gaslow cylinder have fitted in the cupboard? I know your overall capacity of LPG is less than an 11kg Gaslow and a 3.9 Calor, but would it be more convenient etc? You could operate on the "one open and one closed" method.

Guys,

Yes two 6 Kg Gaslow would have fitted but the cost is prohibitive. Yes we could have had a 6Kg Gaslow and a 6 Kg Propane but then to achieve the same ends ( not to have to manually switch over) we would have had the autochangeover valve and another pigtail etc. Seemed more cost effective to just have the one 11Kg bottle.

I will try the 3.9 and see if I can make it fit my locker. No reason why it shouldn't if it fits yours, so thanks for the tip. I would like to carry a spare for a small berbecue or as a standby.

btw I had our filler valve fitted externally just incase any filling station manager decided that he didn't want me filling inside the gas locker. It looks very neat. A good job by Sean at Premier Motorhomes.
