How many miles per gallon does your motorhome give?

This may have been done before but it is always a talking point.
My Dethleff Fiat 130 multijet 2.3 tells me that overall I am getting 30mpg.
The more I look at the readings when driving, the slower I drive and am delighted to find that on over-run I seem to be using no fuel at all; is this possible?

The mpg depends on how far we travel each day :?:
If we only travel from one aire to another just 5 miles down the road, the consumption is very high.
If we do a few hundred miles it is very low
I get through 70cl of red for every night stop, sometimes even more
So it can be 70 cl for 5 mile or 70cl for 300 mile
Of course, you have guessed by now, I am talking about wine per mile

The wide variety of possible miles per gallon reflects more upon the weight of drivers right foot than the make and efficiency of engines.
I note that so far nobody has commented on how much their mpg has improved since re-mapping, something that I still feel sceptical about...."More power and more MPG"
My own latest mpg since starting the thread is now 34 mpg according to the read-out on my dash, as I now try to keep to 57mph.... I am such a skinflint!

Hymer B544 (2007) Fiat 2.3 multijet, remapped - 27mpg measured using actual fills rather than relying on the trip computer. We averaged 24mpg before the remapping (and we have more torque now) :)
Yes, I agree, it's the only accurate way. I can easily get into the mid to high 30s mpg on a empty(ish) motorway run, but that is not an all round figure, as I have quoted in my previous posts.

I have my trip computer set to metric atm and when on over-run on long hills in 6th the 'instant' consumption is ' 2l/100km' yet when in the UK the same reading is '999mpg'

I'm doing about 150km a day, from Burgundy, via Biarritz to just N of Madrid. It's working out at 11lt/100km whatever that is in mpg (running at 4250kg + the wife...)2.3,150,EuroV

There is a great App for the Ipad called "roadtrip HD" you just put in the mileage at every garage visit, tell it if you filled the tank or not, and it does all the sums for you...

I've used it since owning my van and figures are as follows...

Van bought 25th June 2011 with 10095 miles on the clock..
Now done 17791...

So that's a total of 7696 miles...

Average MPG to date is 26.53 mpg
Best 31.27 mpg
Worst 23.56 mpg

Van is an 05 swift kontiki.... Rated at 4000kg and running a 2.8 jtd engine....also chipped...

And yes since chipping, I'm seeing a small but consistent improvement in mpg.... 8)
