Peugeot cab door noise

Just spent a couple of great weeks in France but noticed a lot of nearside (passenger door) wind noise when speeding south. It is a new AS Neuvo ES. I have previously owned an Autocruise on the same cab and we had no noise at all.
Has anyone else had similar problems and were they able to get it fixed by re-mounting the door or whatever adjustments can be made?

I recently read a test report on the base vehicles most commonly used, ie Ducato, Boxer etc and I recall something about wind noise from the tops of cab doors at anything over 65mph.

Sorry can't be more specific at this time but I'll hunt it down eventually. There wasn't any cure mentioned :(

We bought a new peugeot base vehicle last year and I can confirm that the tops of the doors are prone to movement and wind noise not just at speeds over 65ish but also in high winds. When I was crossing the Pennines after collecting it the interior lights would flicker. I've adjusted the doors but honestly don't think it made any difference (Apart from stopping the interior light 'disco').

I rarely travel much over 60, so it's not something too annoying.

"Wind noise" is generally caused by a poorly fitted door seal (The rubber seal running around the frame).
These can and do come away from the frame and a very slight vent can become a large one when the door is shut onto it.

I would suggest checking around the complete seal for ease of movement, as any movement found would indicate where the fault lies.

When found, pull the seal off an ample amount of space and then the spring holder at the rear may be squeezed together using a pliers just the amount of space needed to place back onto frame and hold it there.

I have the facelifted Fiat and the nearside door was fitted 4mm too low, after having it raised on the hinges - simple job but awkward as door is heavy- the wind noise is cured, along with the flickering interior light in stong cross winds. Something else to check is the fitting of the outer rubber seal at top. It shoud be positioned right back against the rear pillar. It is easy to pull of and refit further back if it is not quite right.

I also have a long list of other items worth checking on the Fiat Base - I will start a new topic thead for them, but may be of interest to the technically able and minded.

door noise.

I don't know about these deflectors on motorhomes but I had a set on a Laguna a few years back. I found that visibility around the "A" pillar was much reduced. Had to remove them in the end. Looks like being anothem/home compromise, noise or visibility.

All the best

I think that you have hit the nail on the head Mike. I think that the overcab does affect greatly the "streamlining" of the motorhome. We do not get the same economy as before and if there is a head wind then it does tend to slow you down.
Since I wrote this question however I returned the vehicle to Peugeot for it's first service and asked them to have a look at it. They appear to have raised the door slightly and that has made it a much tighter fit. I have not had chance to test whether this is the answer but hoping to get away early in the new year.
Thanks to all for their input. As has been said many times on this site just ask and someone knows the answer.

If anyone is interested the deflectors I have fitted do not affect visibility in any way at all, they are of clear acrylic. They also give the benifit of being able to have the windowas down a reasonable amount without having a blast of wind in the side of your head.
I beleive that the deflectors do something to the disrupted airflow caused by the luton overcab and this is why they have the effect on the noise.

Hi guys

i have got a wind problem aswell

the drivers door appears to jiggle about and it is breaking the seal, i did think of moving the locking mechanism in a little so it would draw the door further in and squash the seal a bit............or am i on the wrong track

Paul where did you get the deflectors?

I have an A/S Nuevo on the pre-facelift chassis cab, and had a lot of wind noise from the drivers side door at anything over 45mph.

It looked as though the leading edge of the door was not a good fit against the seal.
The vehicle was under warranty, so I took it in and said I wanted to speak to the fitter and show him the problem.

The outcome was that between the door hinge and the body were/are spacers which are fitted to align the door with the body. He removed one of the spacers which brought the door closer to the body on the leading edge and It has been O.K. since.

The door lock was also re-adjusted.
