renovating Yellowed plastic

So all white plastic bathrooms go yellow. Or more likely a mix of near virgin white and lots of yellow.

Has anyone had a serious attempt at restoring back to white ? I understand the aging effect is caused by sunlight/UV but also oils etc. I've read and seen plenty that demonstrates that the way to restored yellowed plastic is to use hydrogen peroxide (typically in a cream/sludge form but can be liquid the item is put in a tank of the stuff), and expose to sunlight (ironically) for a quite a few hours.

Maybe fine with removable parts, not so practical for wet room bathrooms.

I'm wondering whether anyone has had a go / has any solutions. One though that has occurred to me, should I decide I am mad enough to try, is to buy UV lamp/light, coat the said plastic areas and leave. I should add that I can see a number of issues with doing this even if in theory it might work.

Partly prompted by the fact that I currently have the bathroom sink out of the van waiting for a new tap to arrive.

We always used a product called Gumption later bottled as "Liquid Gumption". Don't know if it's still available in UK as the then makers Thompson and Capper in Liverpool stopped trading.

there is are a few methods ..

Hi @Scotjimland. Thanks. I had read that article and a couple of others. They basically use hydrogen peroxide but coupled with UV. Typically bright sunlight, or in some cases a tank which UV lights are wrapped around. I was wondering whether anyone had any luck or alternatives when trying to do large enclosed areas (where sun obviously doesn't get in), maybe using artificial UV source.

Also seen some article mention that the process can turn plastic more brittle. So again was wondering whether anyone had experience of that and now would run a mile or there was no problem.
