Scooter in garage- smells inside!

We have recently started carrying a 125 scooter in the garage of our Hymer. I can smell the faint smell of fumes/petrol inside the motorhome. Has anybody else experienced this and what is the best way of dealing with the problem? Would I need to drain the petrol from the scooter every time?

how about a small computer fan in the floor, already 12v, can be boxed with perforated alloy.

Hi, the fuel cap on the Scooter is fitted with a vent, same as the motorhome and your car, when we experienced the petrol smells in a garage model, the solution was to cling film the filler neck before fitting the cap, and remove the film when you wish to use the Scooter :wink:

Cling film

Last time I did anything with cling film, involved lifting the lids on the toilet seats at school, pulling the cling film tight over the pan and you can work out the rest!

kenlowe type fan with exterior swtch over a vent or a few holes drilled in the floor, or wherever appropriate.

Thanks for the tip with the cling film, did that stop all the smells?

Yes, once the neck was sealed then all the smells stopped! If your model is a 2 -stroke and has a separate oil tank, it may be worth cling filming that one too
