Most people are aware of these services which are FREE, and will stop those nusance calls (just when you sit down to eat)Register your number with the TPS and it then becomes illegal for them to call you. It won't stop the cranks but it WILL stop 99% of the telemarketing calls. Blocking witheld numbers should stop the rest.

While your at it you can also cut down your junk mail here

it's not quite as effective as the phone service (because I don't think it gives it the "illegal" status) but it does cut it down by about 75% or so. Firms don't want to waste money on mailshots that go straight in the bin.

Thanks for that one MandyandDave. We usually keep our phone disconnected for just that reason. We only need a phone line for Broadband and use Mobiles for Communication. 8)

Our method of dealing with telesales phone calls is simple. We don't answer the phone at all we check 1471 and can then ring the person back if needed. I answer the phone at work all day long and its great to feel you don't have to answer.

Likewise the door we don't answer that either.

That leaves the mail and it goes straight in the bin.
