Hello everyone,
I'm interested in getting a campervan for the summer but as I'm on a student budget I'm going to be severely limited. I was thinking about picking up a battered old VW T25 but then I stumbled on an idea...
My dad has a 1996 Fiat Scudo 1.9TD which he has used as a gardener for the past 7 years and he keeps talking about replacing it. It's in very good nick, about 120k miles on the clock and he's looked after it very well, so I was thinking about offering a grand for it and converting it myself. I am quite handy, and it should at least be reliable.
My main concern is the size. It would be only for me and my girlfriend so a three quarter bed would do us. I've looked all over on the web and can't find any conversions having been done with a Scudo, or it's sister vans the Citroen Dispatch or the Peugeot Expert.
Has anyone seen one or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions which may help me. I was encouraged when I came across this website: http://www.bedfordrascal.com/restoration.html - If a Bedford Rascal's big enough then surely a Scudo is?
Another advantage is that the fuel consumption is nearer 30mpg than 20! Hopefully I'll be driving to my brother's house in Bulgaria in the summer.
All advice is appreciated and I'll keep you posted of any progress.
