Funnel for water top up

A well discussed topic, but there is one query I still have.

Generally I use a hose, but very occasionally I would prefer to do a quick top up without moving so I have a collapsible 10l carrier (no garage and a fairly small van). I have toyed with the idea of a submersible pump as there is a 12v socket, but the plugs seem really expensive!

A funnel would be a cheap option, but all I can find are tiny kitchen funnels with a narrow small end.....it would take ages!

Where do you buy your funnels, please?

I got mine from a nearby motor accessories shop.
Plastic rectangular shape top so it's easy to hold and the tube base unscrews for storing it all away in a plastic bag to keep it clean.

Try a watering can, they have built in funnels

Try Halfords, we bought ours there and cut out the mesh inside, works perfectly. We have seen people using funnels that have put a plastic suction hook on the van so that they don't need another pair of hands when pouring water through the funnel.

Halfords oil-filler funnel. Leave the mesh strainer in it stops bits of grass, insects etc getting in.

I use a suction hook between the funnel handle and side of the motorhome to hold the funnel upright when pouring.

Cut the spout back to make as large an outlet as possible for faster pouring.

Hi, I use a "shoe" (the bottom part of a rainwater drain pipe) its a similar size to the outer case of my Sundance water filler point and (with a small amount of tape wound around the edge) it wedges into the recess and is ideal for pouring water into the tank.
Its not my idea, I have seen them used by a lot of motorvanners.
I hope it helps you

Don't know if this helps, and it depends on your layout.

We wild camp a lot and have a 20lt container which we can use for top-up.

We stand it on the table and, via a 2m tube through the window, siphon it into the filler.

No lifting, no funnel, no hassle.

Ive done this three ways. (oooh Matron)

Got a large flexible funnel from a car boot sale / market for a quid. 25 litre water carrier which I either lug about (its heavy) or carry between my legs on the scooter (scary and prone to disaster and ridicule from fellow campers willing you to fall off). takes four trips to fill completely from empty. When full its very heavy to pour but does work.

OR

As suggested stick said carrier on drivers seat and syphon into tank

Or

IF you have internal tanks like us unscrew the big lid on top of the tank inside and fill from there but this has the downside of possibly making a mess in the van and incurring the wrath of Mrs D.

The 25 litre carrier sits full in the side of the kitchen unit for drinks etc as it also has a tap on the side.
