I have a intermittent engine problem with my Burstner, Fiat Ducato 2,8 jtd 2004.

Sometimes there is a "bang" from the engine (not loud) followed by grey smoke from the exhaust. Normaly this will not lit the engine light, but sometimes i does.
When the engine light is on there is low power from the engine (emergency mode). Stop the engine, wait for 30 sec and everything is normal.
Fault code is P0191, Fuel pressure reg. I have changed the regulator on the fuel pump (bosh nr 0281002500), but still the same.

hi , i had this on my ducato 03, after i had a faulty new diesel fuel pump fitted , overfueling to the injectors , if you download fiat multiecuscan, free for trial version , get a cable from ebay £ 10 and graph your van , this will give you a better idea as to the faullt, fiat forum is very helpful as well , regards gary

Thanks, I will try that. Was your fault also intermittent, and was it ok after changing the pump again.

Hi guys. Not sure if anyone is still on this thread but we have similar issue and wondered whether the OP of this post found a solution. Injector leak test fine. Fiat have said they don’t know what it is but something to do with diesel pressure? Same P0191 code. Engine goes into limp mode usually on acceleration after few mins. Switch off and on again clears it. £560 spent so far and still nowhere near a diagnostic 😖
