I was talking to another m/h-er today and he told me of a Park & Ride with dedicated bays for motorhomes. I can't remember where this P&R was but I wondered if this sort of m/h facility is common. Anyone know?

The ones in York do (although you have to pull into the layby in front of the height barrier and then after a few moments they open the barrier for you.

I don't think all P&Rs have moho bays but many do. I don't know how you find out in advance. I normally ask the the managers at whatever site we plan to stay at in the area.

I think some P&R allow overnight parking too.

I know of 2.

One is Canterbury (Old Dover Road) which has a special area for MHs, with water and toilet dump.

Two is not MH specific, but for High-sided vehicles, at Oxford P+R on the South side of the city - pass the main P+R entrance, turn first L and immediately left into Car Park and there is a small fenced area on R just short of height barrier. It is right opposite entrance to CC&C site.

Others may be on with further.

Our local one, recently constructed, huge buses every 12 mins. no occupants, huge cost. Ironbridge has a problem with parking spaces about 10 days a year. What a white elephant.

Hi

There is a national Park & Ride directory:

http://www.parkandride.net

but it is not a complete guide when it comes to facilities for campers and motorhomes... but will no doubt improve* ...

For example it has a "camper" icon for Oxford with details of which car park to use but other places such as Canterbury, which does have facilities has no "camper" icon.

* maybe we should help them improve the guides

Boughton Heath P&R at Chester has dedicated M/Home spaces outside the barriers which are locked at night and you can park overnight as well.

They do warn that you may be disturbed during the night by young ladies having what sounds like an asthma in the back of cars that park there for a while.
