Hi all just wondering if anyone can shed some light on a problem we are having with our gas hob. We have a 99 hymer 640 and it has a 3 ring hob in the kitchen, two of the burners are working fine but the third one will not light.
Obviousy im not going to do any fooling around with the gas systems but just wondering are there any simple steps i can take to try and get it working.
As the other two burners are working fine im wondering could there be some dirt or something blocking the nozzle or something.
If it makes any difference van is running on LPG from onboard tank.

Thanks

Have you tried lighting it with a match/lighter? Just to eliminate igniter problem . . . if piezzo does it click/spark OK?

Does each ring have a flame failure device (e.g. thermocouple)? If so that might have failed, they don't last forever. Symptom of this would be if ring lights when knob held in but then goes out when released.

If it is the jet, then you need something like a very fine nylon bristle to clear it - definitely nothing metal like a needle otherwise you can enlarge the jet hole. you may be able to blow it clean or else soak in cleaning solution, Might be easier to replace the jet, what make/model is the hob?

Hi roger thanks for reply im not sure what make hob is as have only really purchased the van and dont have it nearby at the moment.
All the burners light with a match or lighter so i dont think there is any ignition.
The ring wont light at all even if button is held in that why i was thinking maybe the gas wasnt getting through at all.

I am guessing that dust or some other obstruction may be preventing the safety cut-off from working (past experience) or the cut-out safety device may have failed. After returning my van under warranty, the dealer cleaned the little sensor by the lighter on the gas ring.... job done. He may have only used an airline for all I know.
If you can light the ring while holding the gas on but it goes out when you let go, this could be your problem. The same would apply to an automatic lighter.
