Skoda Roomster electrical query.

I need to find an ignition live feed to supply my dashcam. I thought it would be easy as the radio is ignition controlled but not so.:surprise: After removing it I can only find a permanent live supply. None of the many other connections is live, ignition on or off. I presume one of the other cables supplies an internal relay within the radio to switch on or off in tune with a signal from the ignition switch. Is this a can-bus system by any chance?
In any case, does anyone know the best place to pick up an ignition live on this vehicle? Fuse box looks pretty inaccessible, but may be the only choice. I've been & bought some Wago connectors today to do this job as well.

No Zeb, it's permanently live. You're right, it's in a stupid place back there by the handbrake. I've cured that with a multi-socket on a lead, I've positioned the multi at the front of the central unit, where it fits very neatly. The problem being as it is not ignition controlled, I have to remember to plug it in (& un-plug) every time I use the car. Periodically, I forget, meaning my dash-cam either isn't on or it's left on for hours!

We've got the 2015 Roomster . . .same problem - the ciggie lighter socket is permanently live, I got round the problem by soldering a small on/off switch in the multi socket cable (which is illuminated) so I can have my phone charger lead,TomTom & cam corder all running at the same time AND visually see whether I've switched off when I lock the car (otherwise it's going to run the car battery down. If I can, I'll take a pic of my setup for you.

I got the same problem on our C-Max, *** lighter live at all times.
I assume it's something to do with the keyless ignition - stupid system that is for sure.

There will be (at least one) ignition only supply at the fuse box (wipers, indicators, reverse light, heater fan, electric windows etc etc are all ignition only supplied. There will probably be more than one so take your pick)

Just tap into the SUPPLY side of the ignition only fuse, add an in-line fuse to your dash cam and the jobs done !!

Job completed OK today. The add-a-circuit gizmo worked well, not come across these before. Cost ÂŁ2.49 with a fuse, (collected). I found two unused fuse positions, both ignition controlled, so I used one of them. I managed to conceal the cable behind the headlining & rubber cover to the A pillar.

Here is a photo of the multi socket, now only needed for the sat-nav:

As I was taking the photos I looked out of the driver's window & had a shock, look who was next to me. Don't know what he was doing out whilst it was still light:

Gave me such a shock I forgot to take a piccy of the unit glued to the windscreen, behind the mirror. Have to add that later.
